Topic: Do the 32bit dance!

Hello folks.

Thank you for hanging in there. This should probably one of the last heavy migrations you will see for quite a while. Wolfman is now officially running i386 4.7-release.

The machine is back and you can now log into the server. Note that some packages are probably missing, as we had to reinstall everything from scratch; if that is the case, please take the time and post it on the forum and we'll get to it as quickly as possible.

So what has changed, besides hopeful stability from here on out? For one, you will have to recompile any source code that was previously compiled when we ran amd64, as you won't be able to exec 64bit bins on a 32bit platform, but you are smart and probably knew that.

Everything else should be pretty straightforward. We have also put up a secondary server called 'badger.devio.us' that we will continue implementing over the next couple of days. This server is going to serve as a dedicated premium box, failover site and backup server. Stay tuned for news regarding that.

With that said, cheers to wolfman and badger!

Re: Do the 32bit dance!

About a hour ago we experienced yet another issue and we've identified a potential patch released in April which could resolve the problems we've been seeing.

We're working on getting the kernel recompiled now, and hope to see some resolution soon.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Do the 32bit dance!

i would like to add that what i like about devious is the philosophy more than openbsd specifically. if openbsd isn't workable and you decide on another bsd, i would be just as happy

sadly i must also relay that i have attempted to use openbsd in high-volume environments many times over the last decade, and each time i have experienced fatal stability issues

Are ssh host keys of wolfman changed? Is the fingerprint of the new one d4:d3:fd:ca:c4:d3:e9:94:97:cc:52:21:3b:e4:ba:e9 ?

Yes, that's the new one.  See the post by blue in the "new DSA key or MITM?" topic under the "Report Issues" forum.
